Fall Beauty Trends You’ll Be Seeing This Year

Fall Beauty Trends You'll Be Seeing This YearAutumn mode activated. We are in the season where days seem shorter and the first frost appears (or you feel the first cool breeze after an endless summer). Leaves turn from green to red, orange, yellow and brown before they eventually fall off the trees. I like to call this my tender weather. Early morning you may need your coat, mittens, boots and your umbrella close by. Once afternoon hits, the sun may come out and all you need now is a little cute light jacket. Or are you into seasonal colour shade trends? This fall I’m definitely feeling a mixture of deep creamy yellows like dark cheddar and butterscotch and indubitably nutty browns like sugar, almond, and hazel. Keep reading to find out this year’s fall beauty trends, from hair to makeup and nails.

2021 Fall Beauty Trends

1. Hair

During autumn, the cold and dry temperatures make our manes look dehydrated and lifeless. Do not sweat it though, all you need to learn is how to work the weather and give your hair a little more TLC.

Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize! As winter gets closer, the air gets drier. Combine that with heat and friction from the fibres in our scarves and hats. The end result is usually fly-aways and frizzy dry hair. During this season our natural sebum produced by the scalp has a tougher time travelling down the hair shaft which contributes to drier hair.  For my fellow curly-haired girls pay special attention to the LOC method (leave-in conditioner, oil and curling cream) and use heavier kinds of butter to seal your hair. If you have loose waves or straight hair I’d suggest you deep condition often and steam your hair to lock in moisture.

It’s always fun rocking highlights and lighter shades during spring and summer, but in fall that’s when the brunettes and darker hair shades start popping. If you are itching to dye your hair, try trendy hues like chestnut, bright copper, honey brown, lowlights and blended grey.

2. Makeup

Switching up my makeup routine at the beginning of each season is one thing that really gets me high. And for my fall beauty trends, I am kind of over the fresh makeup look that I rocked for the most part of summer; ready to add some more colour and glitter to my routine. In the fall/winter 2019-2020 runway makeup trends I spotted a few cute looks. Gorgeous dewy skin with a touch of bronzers and soft feminine hues for your eyeshadow like pink and purple would look great during the day. While for an evening look I would rock a dark smokey eye with gold, glitter and a bold lip. My eyeliner will come in super handy as I am excited to try out different shapes and shades. As for brows and lashes, go strong and fluffy.

3. Nails

I am sure by now you have already updated your skincare routine to be in line with this year’s fall beauty trends. Your nails as well, need to be protected from the harsh incoming cold weather, wind and indoor heating. Try not to take really hot showers and avoid alcohol-based sanitizers and nail polish removers. All these contribute to brittle nails which chip, peel and easily break. Planning on getting a bomb manicure? I would suggest you get some cuticle oil which repairs the sensitive skin around your nails, softens your cuticle and moisturizes your nails. No cuticle oil? Try out Vaseline or your lip balm then put some gloves on before leaving the house. As for the colours, they vary from some creamy blue, soft red, royal dark teal, glossy fuchsia to my favourite milky chocolate brown, on medium-length almond-shaped nails or if I’m feeling a little adventurous, long stiletto nails will do the trick.
