Hair Loss: How to Stop it on its Tracks

Women2If you have never faced some form of hair loss or hair thinning in your life consider yourself very lucky. Those of us who have faced this form of emotional torture can agree that it’s not a pretty phase to go though. For some reason, hair loss hits women harder than it does men; and maybe that’s why it’s called a woman’s crowning glory.

There are many types of hair loss among women, and it is important to understand each one of them. There are some forms that can be stopped while there are others which are permanent, and the only way out of it is having a hair transplant surgery (which I will explain in a different post).

The moment you notice that you are losing more hair in a day, more than what is expected (which is like 100 strands), your chances of facing this hair loss torture are very high, which means you might suffer some emotional effects of hair loss.

Lucky for you, since I have good connections with some people in aesthetic medicine, today I will give you a few tips on how you can stop hair loss on its tracks, courtesy of one Anisa Vrabac, who just happens to head an entire wing dedicated to hair transplant and hair loss treatments in Dubai.

So before you start worrying yourself sick, try these tips first.

women3Address hormonal imbalances to stop hair loss

Excess Oestrogen is one of the leading causes of hair loss among women. For instance, most women face hair loss when they are pregnant. This is because the oestrogen levels during this time are very high. Once the cause of your hormonal imbalance is addressed, everything should be back to normal within no time.

Stay away from stress

Since stress is one of the ways that has been proven to cause and accelerate loss of hair, it is important to find a way to overcome any stressful episodes before you end up with an entire head that is lacking in hair. So if you want your hair to stop thinning or falling off at the rate at which it is doing, do something about your stress levels like exercising, yoga or therapy, and start enjoying a stress free life and a lovely head of hair.

women4Have a balanced diet

In case you did not know, the cool saying about us being what we eat happens to include the hair as well. But if your diet lacks all the essential vitamins and fatty acids, you better spruce it up because that might be the key to having a healthy and full head of hair. For instance, having plenty of nutrients like omega 3 fatty acids, iron, zinc and vitamin D will give you a strong and healthy mane.

Consider using mild hair products

Some hair products like shampoo and conditioners contain elements which can easily affect the health of the follicles leading to hair loss. These harsh ingredients include silicones and sodium lauryl sulfate just to name a few. Next time you are out buying your hair regimen, look out for the harsh stuff and avoid them. You can also try to use natural products to keep your hair healthy and beautiful.

women5Pay your doctor a visit

Sometimes hair loss can be a sign of deeper things within your immune system. So the moment you notice that you are losing more hair than usual, it is time to dig out your doctor’s business card and book an appointment. You never know because you might just end up needing some supplements and you have your hairline back as it was.

Hair Transplant

Last but not least, getting a good hair transplant is also another option for slowing down or stopping hair loss. Getting growth factor therapy is also another way to counter hair loss.
