Bringing Back the ‘Bald is Sexy’ Look

It would appear that the hair on a man’s head is all about perception and is subject to a fair amount of scrutiny. If he has a full head of hair he is perceived as being more physically strong and virile (see Samson from the bible). On the other hand, if a man is balding or has a receding hairline, he is perceived to be less attractive and people (I.e. members of the opposite sex) don’t have much confidence in them.
Let’s face it, not all men can pull off the Vin Diesel-level bald head but also not all men are able to fly to Turkey to get those expensive hair implants. So, what would the middle ground be? Confidence of course and a return of the ‘bald is sexy’ look.

To Get or Not to Get the ‘Bald is Sexy’ Look?

Going bald or shaving your head could also be a good excuse to revamp your entire look. Being a woman my entire life I’ve never had any reason to fully research a man’s hair. My research has shown me that rocking a bald head can be done in two ways: a full shiny bald head (think LL Cool J) which can be paired with a full lumberjack beard or a goatee.

Of course, there are tons of products marketed toward achieving the perfectly shiny bald pate. These products range from a special shaver to moisturizers, oils, and bald head polish. The second option would be the bald head with slight stubble. Not a personal favorite unless you’re Brett and Jason Oppenheim (yes, I watch Selling Sunset for Brett and Jason)

In the past being bald was associated with illness, devoutness to one’s religion or even subjugation (think slaves or prisoners). A lot of men were ashamed of the fact that their hair was thinning and hid this with hats or caps or took pictures from certain angles.

Embracing the Bald Look

For a lot of men, a receding hairline was genetic, and they found themselves with little to no hair in their early to mid-20s. They felt that the loss of their hair was consuming their entire lives and preventing them from living their best life. Most if not all these men came to the conclusion that they were not alone and embracing and overcoming this insecurity was liberating.

The time they spent on hair maintenance and money on hair products considerably lessened and the confidence boost from having this weight lifted and eventual “glow-up” would inevitably lead to, you guessed it attracting the opposite sex.

Everyone is going to have an opinion but at the end of the day, the most important thing is that your hair is not your entire personality. If you feel good about your appearance the world notices and what’s sexier than a bald man with a ton of confidence? And the few men I spoke to about the ‘bald is sexy’ look totally agree.
