Homemade Remedies for Maskne The global pandemic is clearly redefining the meaning of our new normal every day, including face masks and staying at home (well it’s been a year already, so not that new anymore). Yes, this does help us stay safe, but it does affect some of us as well. One of the most common problems is Maskne breakouts (mask-related acne), and lately, I’ve found myself struggling with it, which as a result has sent me down rabbit holes to find some homemade remedies for maskne.

If you are having to deal with new acne popping, then they can be, what medical professionals are calling, acne mechanica –  Maskne is acne triggered by excess heat and friction around your mouth when you talk or breath while wearing a mask. Besides being annoying, this hot breath creates a warm, humid environment — and an ideal setting for yeast, bacteria, and other flora, such as Demodex (types of skin mites that naturally live on our skin), to grow.
