Home-made Hair Conditioners For Damaged Hair

Home-made Hair Conditioners For Damaged HairDry, frizzy and dull-looking hair can be a nightmare (I know this from experience). I have come to realize that the best way to get rid of this and prevent more damage is through moisturizing and nourishing your hair with the proper nutrients. And if you can’t afford to use store-bought products, there are some home-made hair conditioners that are not only pocket-friendly but quite simple to make, and they also do the job.

Below I have listed my favorite home-made hair conditioners, and all you’ll need are just a few simple kitchen ingredients.

1.     Banana Hair Mask

Bananas are rich in potassium, natural oils, carbohydrates, and vitamins. These help in preventing split ends and breakage while strengthening and adding volume to hair.

What you’ll need: One banana, three tablespoons of honey, three tablespoons of milk, three tablespoons of olive oil and one egg. Mix all the ingredients and make a paste then apply to clean washed hair and live it on for 30minutes. Rise off.

2.     Coconut and Honey Conditioner

When it comes to home-made hair conditioners, it would be a catastrophe to leave coconut oil out. Coconut oil contains lauric acid which helps bind the protein in hair. Loss of protein in your hair leads to thinning and breakage. Honey, on the other hand, has antibacterial and antiseptic properties which prevent scalp infections. A mixture of these two ingredients helps boost hair growth leaving your hair soft, shiny and healthy.

What you’ll need: One tablespoon of coconut oil, one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of rose water. Mix them well then apply on washed hair and scalp. Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse with running water.

3.     Apple Cider Vinegar conditioner

Hair that is dry, dull and brittle tends to be more alkaline. Apple cider vinegar, being an acid, helps lower the pH and brings hair back to balance. It is also a disinfectant which prevents minor infections.

What you’ll need: Two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon of honey and two cups of water. Mix all the ingredients and apply to the tips of clean; avoid exposing it to your scalp. Rinse after 1 hour.

4.     Aloe Vera Hair conditioner

Aloe Vera contains enzymes that stimulate dormant hair follicles which results in faster hair growth. The moisture content of the plant helps hydrate and condition hair. Its anti-inflammatory properties help soothe scalp irritation. It also has anti-fungal properties which treat dandruff and flaking.

What you’ll need: Four tablespoons of aloe vera gel and one tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix well and apply to clean shampooed hair then wait for five minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

5.     Yogurt Hair Conditioner

Yogurt is a multivitamin-rich food which has high levels of lactic acid that help treat dry and damaged hair, whilst adding a lustrous sheen. Its anti-fungal properties help in treating and preventing dandruff.

What you’ll need: One egg and six tablespoons of yogurt. Beat the egg in a bowl then mix in the yogurt. Massage mixture into clean hair and leave on for 30minutes. Rise out with warm water.
