What You Need To Know About The Hollywood Peel

TBL: What exactly is the Carbon Laser Facial?

Amira: The Carbon Laser Facial, also known as the Hollywood Peel, is a skin rejuvenating treatment that uses laser combined with carbon cream. It works by getting rid of dead skin cells to reveal a radiant and brighter complexion. To start with, I apply a thin layer of carbon cream on the entire face, where it penetrates deep into the pores. This is followed by heating up the skin with a laser beam which is absorbed by the carbon. After the heating, it is followed by a second laser that gently removes the carbon cream along with the dead cells leaving the skin healthier and brighter.

TBL: Why do we also call it The Hollywood Peel?

Amira: It’s called the Hollywood peel because it is the go-to skin treatment of most celebrities, mostly before they take a walk on the red carpet. That’s why their faces are always glowing amid all the camera flashes.

TBL: How is it different from other laser skin treatments?

Amira: The carbon laser facial is a very gentle skin treatment that doesn’t have any downtime and the results are seen immediately after the session and for a few weeks afterward.

TBL: Is there any pain associated with the treatment process?

Amira: When the Hollywood peel is being administered, there might be a slight tingling, depending on your skin sensitivity and a bit of redness which subsides within a few hours post-treatment. Actually, people are more afraid of the sound the laser makes when it is being passed through the carbon cream applied on the face (the sound is more combustive because the laser causes the carbon to micro-explode on the skin, which then gets rid of the dead skin cells).

TBL: How many sessions are needed?

Amira: Depending on your skin’s needs, we recommend 3-5 sessions with an interval of 2-3 weeks, and maintenance treatment of the same every 2 months to keep the results showing.

TBL: What are the benefits of the treatment?

Amira: Carbon Laser Facial is effective on enlarged pores and blackheads because it gets rid of both. In addition, it exfoliates dead skin cells and refreshes the skin. Finally, it stimulates collagen production and reduces fine lines, meaning it’s a great anti-aging treatment if done consistently.

TBL: Is it safe and are there any side effects?

Amira: Yes, it is safe. As for the side effects, they are minimal with slight redness and tingling for a few hours post-treatment, and it also bleaches any hair on the treated area.

TBL: Who should not undergo the Hollywood Peel?

Amira: Pregnant women, people with sensitive skin, and any skin diseases like eczema should not undergo not only the Carbon Laser facial but any laser skin treatment.

TBL: What advice would you give to anyone who wants to have the treatment?

Amira: My advice would be to avoid direct sun exposure before and after the treatment and they should apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 50+, and stay hydrated to keep the skin hydrated and supple.
